On Thursday 23rd June 2022, Amal visited The Everyman Theatre as part of her epic journey from Syria to Manchester (pictured)

Now, three years later, The Everyman Theatre invites you to follow Amal's 8,000km journey from the Syrian border across Europe (ending in Manchester, via Cheltenham) through a special screening of her film THE WALK.

This free event, funded by the Everyman Theatre and Arts Council England, is in honour of Refugee Week (16–22 June 2025) and aims to celebrate the strength and resilience of displaced people - and to spark meaningful conversations about belonging, compassion, and community.

The theme of Refugee Week 2025 is “Community as a Superpower” and aligns with the impactful year-round collaboration between our theatre and the amazing local charities supporting those seeking sanctuary.

Following the screening there will be a post-show discussion with Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees, Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) and Good Chance.

Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees and Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) will be fundraising after the show so please bring cash to support them if you would like to make a donation towards their work.

The Walk was directed by Oscar nominated Tamara Kotevska and being brought to the Everyman Theatre in collaboration with Together films.
