Clive Thomas
Board Chair
Clive, a Qualified Chartered Accountant has served as a finance and operations director at board level for over 25 years for a variety of companies. He has extensive experience in assisting organisations with start-ups, restructures and acquisitions/disposals, as well as involvement in investment fund-raising. Since 2008, Clive has provided, through his own firm, freelance finance director services on a variety of assignments and in a diverse number of sectors, and sits on a number of boards as a non-executive director. He was first appointed to the board of the Everyman Theatre in 1997 and became Chairman in 2007, where his main role has been to oversee the fund-raising for the refurbishment in 2011 and more recently to head up the recruitment of the chief executive Mark Goucher.
John Workman
As well as being BPE Solicitors’ Senior Partner, and Honorary Consul for the Republic of Estonia and the South West, John is a Corporate lawyer with over 35 years’ experience in the commercial world. John advises clients, including AIM companies, on buying and selling businesses. He also led the management buyout of BPE in 2005. The independent Legal Directory, Chambers & Partners have named John an Eminent Practitioner. He joined the board of the Everyman in 2003 and has a mix of commercial and charitable non-executive roles, including two which are theatre related.
Chun Kong
Born in Hong Kong, Chun was educated in, and has lived in Cheltenham since 1973. Chun founded the family business The Mayflower which operated in Cheltenham from 1982 - 2024. He is a trustee of Crimestoppers Gloucestershire since 2011 and Chair of Maggie’s Cancer Care Cheltenham since 2017. Chun enjoys dinning out, theatres, travelling and meeting like minded people; and is a supporter of local businesses and charities whenever possible.
Jason Blackburn
Jason has been a member of the Board since 2000. A charity fundraiser by profession with over 30 years’ experience working for a diverse range of charities across the UK; he is currently Head of Donations at WellChild. A member of the theatre’s Finance Committee, Vice-Chair of the Development Group and Lead on Health & Safety and Environment for the Board. An active member of the local community theatre scene for over 30 years, Jason has directed a number of productions here and also performed on the Everyman stage on a number of occasions and enjoyed every minute of it.
Mark Hamlin
Mark is a non-executive director on a number of boards, both public and private. He chairs Mission 44, a charity seeking to transform the lives of young people from underserved backgrounds. He has always had an interest in theatre, from being a young lighting designer with a touring theatre company at school, to acting with Wedmore Theatre in Somerset for twenty years. A clinical psychologist by profession he established a management consulting firm in 1990 which grew to be quite large and operated in North America, Europe and Africa. The firm specialised in strategy development, culture change and leadership. Mark and his wife have lived in Cheltenham for six years, moving to be close to their two grandchildren.
Mike Dey
Thornton Michael Dey has served on the board of the Everyman Theatre since 1991, and has been chairman of the Everyman Catering Company throughout this time. He has lived in Cheltenham since 1982, when he co-founded The Retreat Wine Bar with his wife after having a successful career in retail most notably General manager of Kickers in London. He was a founder member of the Gloucester AIDS trust and the Suffolk Traders Association. He lives in Cheltenham with his wife, and has four grown up children.
Wendy Edwards
Wendy is a qualified Company Secretary and provides consulting services to an array of businesses. Her extensive experience in commercial operations, risk and strategic development has ensured she has been able to work with some interesting brands such as ASOS Plc, Airbnb, RTZ Plc, Dell Corp. Ltd and Superdry Plc. She has supported a number of business start-ups and been involved with several IPOs. Her work within the charitable sector spans several decades. Wendy is on the board of The Everyman Theatre (a registered charity), and is trustee for a conservation charity based in Cheltenham. She has been on the board of Vintage Tea & Coffee Limited since 2017.
Guy Woodcock
Founding director and chief strategist at award-winning Montpellier Public Relations, Guy Woodcock brings three decades of corporate and PR & marketing communications experience. Guy is a former Sandhurst-trained army officer and a proud Gloucestershire and Cheltenham man too. Also director of the UK’s PR industry body, the PRCA, and non-exec director of a number of other commercial and charitable organisations, including the Everyman of course, Guy is married with four children, and lives and works in Cheltenham town centre.

Mark Borkowski
Mark Borkowski is the UK’s most sought-after expert on crisis and reputation, whose guidance has shifted public discourse on how careers are made and broken for businesses and individuals. His commentary on global media crises include the Prince Andrew-Jeffrey Epstein scandal, featuring in over 980 outlets and 200 TV and radio appearances, Johnny Depp’s court case and Harry and Meghan Markle’s split from the Royal Family. Mark continues to advise on matters requiring cultural expertise for figures such as Jimmy Page and Terry Gilliam. Mark and his team also work with UK lawyers on high-profile contestations, providing strategic counsel and managing press. At his TEDx Warsaw presentation in 2013, Mark was one of the first media figures to discuss the potentially nefarious effects of Google (mis)information curation and data mining and his agency continues to work with clients spearheading developments in tech and cybersecurity. Whilst working for Wispa, Borkowski was responsible for the first major Facebook PR campaign. Mark spoke at the Follow the Entrepreneur Mykonos conference in 2021, the PRCA UK Conference in July 2022 and the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2022. He has authored two books, Improperganda: The Art of the Publicity Stunt and The Fame Formula, a history of Hollywood's great publicists.
