Writers' Lab

Thu 28th May

The Everyman Theatres Writers’ Workshops have been running for over 15 years. It is a networking and training facility for playwrights based in Gloucestershire, the Midlands and the South West.

The scheme is delivered in the theatre, sometimes on a weekday evening, usually 7.00-9.30pm, and sometimes at a weekend.  Often there is a guest workshop leader; otherwise, there is an opportunity for writers’ scripts to be read by professional actors followed by group feedback.  Recently the Writers’ Workshops have worked alongside the Everyman’s Actors’ Workshops to explore how devised theatre can progress to script.

Thursday 28th May 7pm – 9.30pm in Directors Lounge and Monday 15th June 6.30pm – 9.30pm in the Studio. Writing for the Heroine with Kirstie Davis. A course of 2 sessions that must be booked together.

In the first session we will look at the play Linda by Penelope Skinner and use it a stimulus for writing your own short piece with a woman as the heroine. Two weeks later you will be asked to submit your work and Kirstie will read and feedback on each one. On 15th June we will meet with the Actors in the Studio where everyone’s work will be read by the actors in development with Kirstie.

Please note this is for all writers, not just for women.
