The Everyman Theatre Grove Street Appeal
Help us change lives through arts, culture and community.
The Everyman Theatre is building a new dedicated creative arts education and community centre. Due to open Spring 2026, this is a big project for our charity but an even bigger step forward for inclusion in the arts for Cheltenham, and Gloucestershire as a whole.

Building on our proud track record…a new Everyman Theatre Education Centre in west Cheltenham opening in 2026
The Everyman Theatre is excited to share its plans to create a brand new dedicated creative arts education and community centre. We are passionate about our education and community work (link to landing page) and the impact that our award-winning team has made over 40 years +. This expansion is part of our commitment to growing this impact and acknowledging that there is more work to do in making arts accessible for all - but we need your help.

“The Everyman Theatre believes passionately that creative opportunities have the power to transform lives. Our new initiative to re-energise the former Community Resource Centre in Grove Street, previously run by the brilliant West End Partnership, will allow our education and community work to extend further and help us deliver inspiring, innovative and engaging creative projects for all. We’re so excited to do more of the work we love and reach new communities! ”
About the Campiagn
The Building
In Autumn 2024, the Everyman Theatre purchased the Community Resource Centre on Grove Street from the Cheltenham West End Partnership who, having decided to sell the premises and approaching the Everyman through our Board, were incredibly supportive of our vision for the building. We are proud to have the opportunity to build on their amazing legacy of community impact.
To support our vision and not restrict the activities we can offer, the building requires extensive refurbishment both internally and externally. Our aim is to have work complete and the building open by Summer 2026.
The Need
Our Education and Community team work with over 20,000 people each year, but we know there is growing need out there (loneliness, impact of rising cost of living, poor mental health, pressure on statutory services/waiting lists), and communities we aren’t reaching.
We have limited space in our busy working theatre which restricts our current ability to expand deliver. We’re also aware that those we aren’t currently reaching may face barriers to coming to the Theatre – geographic, social, cultural and financial. The new centre will break down these barriers by providing a centrally located and welcoming space for all that’s situated in the heart of the communities we seek to better engage.
Cheltenham is a town of significant disparities in health, wealth, and access to opportunities. The Everyman Theare Education Centre will enable us to expand our education and community provision, with a focus on increasing creative arts projects with and for less advantaged communities.
The Vision
The Everyman Theatre Education Centre isn’t just bricks and mortar…it will be a vibrant hub of creativity, learning, and community spirit. By Summer 2026 we will have two floors of fully accessible, fit for purpose space where we can deliver a wide range of creative and performing arts workshops and activities.
There will be a dynamic and fun programme of activities running all year round for all ages and abilities; and new people joining our creative community each week. The building will be the home of the Everyman’s education and community work. A dedicated space to engage people in arts and culture, and for our talented team to develop new projects and initiative behind the scenes.
We are committed to the Everyman Education Centre being utilised as much as possible and will make it available for low-cost hire (or free where funding allows) to local Artists and other organisations delivering arts and culture education and community work. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do.
We will transform even more lives through arts and cultural activities – building on our proud track record!
