Former winner of the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition, Dom Franks is a saxophonist and composer who has worked in a wide range of styles; from classical solo engagements with the Oxford Pro Musica Singers to session work on a number of hit singles. More recently he has toured the UK with his Dom Franks’ StrayHorn quartet. His influences as a musician are eclectic, taking in Art Pepper, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins, Maceo Parker, Kenny Garrett, and Paul Desmond.
Tommy Scott’s exciting piano style is inspired by Herbie Hancock, Danilo Perez, Kenny Kirkland, Joey Calderazzo, Brad Mehldau, and many others, forging his own unique sound and creativity into the world of jazz.
Joining Dom and Tommy this evening is James Agg on double bass. James has played with multiple GRAMMY award winners Daniel Ho, Cathay Fink, and Marcy Marxer and has also performed as a sideman with John Law, Mornington Lockett, Alex Garnett, plus many others.
For this special concert, Dom, Tommy, and James will be exploring the wonderful music of the master jazz pianist and composer, Herbie Hancock.
