The Dreaming

Stagedoor Learning presents

The Dreaming

with music by Howard Goodall and book & lyrics by Charles Hart.

Midsummer 1913. A sleepy Somerset village. Throughout her childhood, Blacksmith's daughter Jacqetta has heard stories about the wild children who live in the woods, and longs to join them. At the same time, young aristocrat Julian entertains his new wife Henrietta with stories about ancient Midsummer customs, whilst Gamekeeper's daughter Charlotte elopes with Alexander, the love of her life, pursued by her jilted fiance David and friend Jennifer, who hopes to gain David's favour by assisting him in the search. In a different part of the wood, Mrs Plum, Lord Julian's housekeeper, and an enthusiastic group of household staff rehearse a play with which they intend to entertain their young master on his 21st birthday.

This whimsical, witty musical adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will be a delight for the whole family.

Following the success of Brass in 2021, Stagedoor Learning is thrilled to be returning to the Everyman's main stage.
