Tess, the daughter of a poor and dissipated villager, learns that she may be descended from the ancient family of D'Uberville.

In her search for respectability her story assumes the proportions of a Greek tragedy when she meets two very different men. 

With live music, multiple characterisation, humour and inventiveness, yet another English classic novel is brought wonderfully to live - Hotbuckle style!
