Tales from the Edge
This Event Takes Place @ Chapel Arts, Cheltenham (Chapel Arts, Knapp Road (Near St. James Square), Cheltenham. GL50 3QQ)
The six monologues in Tales from the Edge feature characters who for very different reasons are living on the edge of society. They are all at a turning point – after which life will never be the same again…
In World Backwards we meet Mel, preparing for a meeting she hopes will fill the emptiness in her life; Dan in Time of Their Lives, finding fresher’s week a challenge as he struggles to fit in; Rachel in Blue Raincoat, clearing her Mum’s house after her death and struggling to come to terms with some turbulent memories; Ifor in No Way Home, a homesick Welsh rugby fan living in Gloucestershire who loses his temper one night – with tragic consequences; Cassie in Feet, a chiropodist who trained as a dancer, given the chance for revenge on the bully who stifled her dreams; and Rupert in Murdering Lyndie, an actor haunted by the missed cue that scuppered his career.
The six monologues in Tales from the Edge were filmed in lockdown last year by an extraordinarily talented group of local actors to raise money for Acting for Others and were short-listed for the prestigious UK Film Festival-London. They are returning to their natural home now with this first ‘live’ performance at Chapel Arts.
Tales from the Edge were written by Bafta-nominated playwright, Carolyn S. Jones.
