Kim Cypher's Big Jazz Kick-Start

Welcome to the 2021 jazz series at Chapel Arts, and we are very excited to welcome the brilliant Kim Cypher and her band to Chapel Arts, for the very first time! Kim is a renowned singer, saxophonist and composer, a wonderful performer, and a prolific recording artist with unending creativity.

Kim trained alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis (esteemed side-man with James Brown) and UK saxophonist Andy Sheppard, and her recent recordings and performances are a veritable who’s who of British and American jazz. Kim loves to perform a repertoire from classic 1940s jazz, all the way through to the sounds of modern grooves. Recently reviewed by highly acclaimed critic ‘The Jazz Mann’, Kim continues to be described as a stunning performer, full of great humour, energy, enthusiasm and wonderful musicianship.

Joining Kim this evening will be the passionate and dynamic Alex Steele on piano, the brilliant Mike Green on double bass, and the ebullient, action-packed, super-cuddly Mike Cypher on drums. We can’t wait to hear Kim and her dream team!
