Join renowned baritone Peter Edge and pianist Louis Mander for a wonderful concert of English song curated around the theme of ‘Summer’.
Programme to include songs by Parry, Quilter, Coleridge Taylor, Vaughan Williams and a world premiere of two new songs by Mander - Two Housman Songs.
Louis Mander
British composer & pianist trained at The Royal College of Music in London and Birmingham University. His music is internationally performed and includes chamber, opera, vocal, and music for film. A Rondel of Gloucestershire will be premiered by Baritone Roderick Williams in 2021. Recent commissions include a full-length opera The Life to Come with a libretto by Stephen Fry and a new musical based on Peter Pan with book & lyrics by Pam Ayres. As an accompanist and recitalist, Louis has collaborated with singers and instrumentalists, including baritone Rodney Earl Clarke, David Jones, mezzo-soprano Maria Jagusz and cellist Patrick Johnson. In 2011 Louis co-founded the Crescent Piano Trio and now, the newly formed Gloucestershire-based, Beaudesert Piano Quartet.
Jack Holton
Originally from North Kent, baritone Jack Holton trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In 2019, Jack's opera roles included Eugene Onegin (The People's Opera), Count Anckarström (Un ballo in Maschera - Opera Holland Park Young Artist), Sky Masterson (Guys & Dolls - West Green House Opera), Mr Jedermann (cover) (Scoring a Century - British Youth Opera), and Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni - Rogue Opera). Jack was also a chorus member for Wexford Festival Opera’s productions of The Veiled Prophet, La Cucina / Adina, and Don Quichotte and performed the role of 3rd Bandit in Don Quichotte.
Early this year, Jack was Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni - The Merry Opera Company), and was due to be performing La Poigne (Margot le Rouge - Opera Holland Park) and the title role in Gianni Schicchi (British Youth Opera) in the summer. In the autumn Jack will commence Guildhall’s Opera Course.
Jack was awarded an Opera Awards Foundation bursary for this year.
