John has been a secondary school music teacher for nearly 40 years. He studied music at Bristol University and gained his PGCE at Christ Church College, Cambridge. After teaching music in several schools he became Head of Music at Cheltenham Bournside School in 2005. He stood down as Head of Music in Dec 2020, but still teaches there part-time. He has been organise at a number of different churches in Gloucestershire and is currently organist and choirmaster at St Marys’ Church, Charlton Kings. John has performed at Chapel Arts many times, accompanying Bournside students at their lunchtime recitals.
Dalia, born in Romania, attended the Marin Sorescu Music and Art High School in Craiova, going on to The National University of Music in Bucharest and Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. She was privately toured by Ion Bogdan Stefãnescu, who studied under Sir James Galway; and has taken many master classes, including Vera Fischer, Barbara Balba Weber, Ana Oltean Zehender and Matei Loachimescu. She has performed in many concerts across Romania; a recital at Filarmonica Oltenia, Craiova and at Brancoveanu’s Palace, Mogosoaia as well as alongside orchestras and chamber music ensembles. She now lives in Cheltenham with her family and when she’s not playing the flute, she enjoys painting.
